Semi-Custom Wood Doors can be crafted to have that one-of-a-kind look by incorporating assorted options from our standard collection.

One example of this would be to switch up the glass inset in a particular door in order to go from conventional to a more modern, custom look.

Furthermore, you can take things to the next level and add more to the wow-factor by having a name, logo, or address engraved in the wood or glass.  You could also consider adding a side-lights or two, to up the visual appeal of any kind of door.  In a more basic example, we can apply non-standard dimensions or a specific wood type of your choosing to one of our standard doors to reflect your unique vision.

1. Customer Idea - It all begins with an idea, a sketch, a picture, a vision, an inspiration from something our client
   has seen.

2. The Body - The client than takes their vision and gets in touch with one of our design professionals and we collaborate in order to come up with the perfect custom entry door that suits them.  In this step, we walk you through a door design checklist that incorporates and tackles all the necessary components that determine and shape door design.  Remember that details make all the difference and are truly what set apart an extraordinary door from an ordinary one!

3. The Quote - Glenview Doors will then provide the client with a proposal for their custom door.  This will cover all the information regarding what will go into making their door, including measurements, materials, dimensions, pictures, carvings, pricing, delivery terms, warranties, our cancellation and order change policies , etc.  This will be where you will know everything that is going into making your custom door a reality.

4. Placing the Your Order - Once the customer is satisfied with their quote and what their custom doors entails, they give us the green light on the proposal, we send over a purchase order, which the customer signs and sends our way to Glenview Doors.  We then do all the work and before you know it, the custom door is completed and delivered on-site to anywhere across the country.  There is nothing left to do but enjoy its beautiful custom quality as well, as craftsmanship for years to come!

  Sometimes the proposal can go several iterations before a final version is settled upon.

Knotty Alder Doors: Looking for an entryway with a distinct personality to welcome visitors to your home? A knotty alder door from Doors For Builders is a great place to start. Alder has a fine close-grained structure and is easily stained and finished. Part of the popularity of Alder is due to the unusually wide range of grades that are available; with knotty alder giving rise to unique visible surfaces and unusual structural components. 

The cream color of newly cut Alder turns a pink orange whilst working on it. This ‘bleeding’; causes the more mature wood to be beautifully tinted and veined. It was therefore much sought after by furniture makers. In the Highlands of Scotland, it was used for making chairs and cabinets and thus came to be known as ‘Scottish mahogany”.
